Introduction
Over the past year, we’ve been incredibly excited by how many teachers across the country have brought EnlightenAI into their classrooms. At the same time, we’ve been grateful to begin partnering with schools, districts, and large charter organizations to support entire communities of educators.
We’ve reached a point where we need to make sure we can operate sustainably for the long term—without putting the burden on individual teachers. We know most teachers don’t have independent budgets for tech tools, and we know school and district partnerships take time and trust to develop. With that reality in mind, we’re introducing a simple account structure that allows us to grow responsibly while ensuring you continue to have access to the tools you need!
As a result, two key things are happening, and we want to make sure you have the details:
We’re introducing an "Unlimited" tier of access to our platform for schools and districts that are paying partners of EnlightenAI.
In March, teachers who are in schools or districts who are using EnlightenAI for free are going to be transitioned to a “Free Forever” plan. This plan will have a limit on the total number of submissions you can grade, and some adjustments to tools and features.
We want to make sure one thing is clear to all the teachers we support: None of you are losing access to EnlightenAI.
There is no hard stop, no sudden cutoff, and no scenario where you’re left without support when you and your students need it.

What’s changing (and what’s staying the same)
Starting at the beginning of February, every teacher will automatically be placed on a one-month free trial of EnlightenAI’s Unlimited plan.
During this month, you’ll have full access to everything you have today:
Unlimited submissions and grading
“AI grade remaining" one-click grading
Full access to the content library
Data-driven reteach creation
Ongoing access to all the other tools and features you already know and love!
Nothing will change about how you use EnlightenAI during this trial period. At the end of February, teachers whose schools or districts are not partnered with EnlightenAI will move to our Free Forever plan.
It includes:
150 graded submissions per month
Access to grade individual submissions (without the "AI grade remaining" feature)
Access to all core tools you already use
Continued access to many new product updates
The ability to reach out to us and ask for more submissions if you're running out
If you ever need more submissions, more time, or access to tools like the “AI grade remaining” feature, there is always a path forward. You can always reach out to us directly and send us a short note explaining what you need and why. We’ll work with you to ensure you get the access you need to support your students.
Especially as we move into this critical part of the spring semester, our priority is making sure your students continue to get the writing support they need.
Why we’re making this change
Running AI-powered tools at scale takes ongoing investment - in infrastructure, reliability, security, and support. Introducing account tiers allows us to:
Keep EnlightenAI stable and dependable
Continue building the features teachers ask for
Support a growing community of users without shifting costs onto individuals
Most importantly, this approach allows us to keep EnlightenAI free for teachers, rather than moving to a model that requires individual subscriptions.
What you get when your school or district partners with EnlightenAI
When a school or district partners with EnlightenAI, every teacher receives Unlimited access, without worrying about usage limits.
Partnerships also unlock:
Unlimited submissions and grading for all teachers
Full access to customized content libraries that can be owned and managed by your district, enabling sharing of custom, district-wide content
Integrations with tools like Clever (rosters and SSO)
Admin dashboards that show longitudinal data on student writing growth and analytics to support instructional planning
Priority support and virtual professional development
